Once nourished by the Desaguadero River-Lake Poop\u00f3\u2019s main tributary, this region has suffered from years of water loss, driven by mining, agriculture, and unchecked urban growth.<\/p><p><br \/>Today, the lake exists only in memory. Along its former banks, just 14 families of the Uru ethnic group remain. Their story is a powerful reflection of a world consuming more and more to sustain an unsustainable way of life.
