Synopsis
On the shores of Lake Poopó in Bolivia, an ancient culture stands resilient in the face of climate change. Once nourished by the Desaguadero River-Lake Poopó’s main tributary, this region has suffered from years of water loss, driven by mining, agriculture, and unchecked urban growth.
Today, the lake exists only in memory. Along its former banks, just 14 families of the Uru ethnic group remain. Their story is a powerful reflection of a world consuming more and more to sustain an unsustainable way of life. We may struggle to imagine a future without mining or technology, but a future without water is unimaginable.
