Let’s Talk About Water and the World Water Museum Network (WAMU-NET) are presenting the Water Film Festival in Italy for the first time, ideally uniting Trento and Paris, where the same programme is organised by UNESCO to celebrate World Water Day.

For over 15 years, LTAW has been working in New York to bring together film and science and stimulate a dialogue on the challenges of water management and possible solutions at a global level.

The 2025 edition of this exhibition celebrates Ancient Hydrotechnologies: the ingenious water management techniques developed by diverse communities around the world.

Ancient but ingenious systems that gave rise to oases in the North African desert or the famous terraced rice landscapes of Bali, Indonesia.

These are knowledge and techniques that materialise far-reaching visions in the use of a precious resource – water – not only for communities, but also for all living beings and the planet’s biodiversity.

These ancient techniques are now of crucial importance in addressing the challenges of ecological transition and climate change from a sustainability perspective.

During the festival at Harpolab, the Water Film Prize 2025 “Back to Our Future” will be launched: the result of a collaboration between WAMU-NET Network and LTAW. The award ceremony will take place in November in Belém (Brazil), in conjunction with COP 30, the climate conference.
